strumenti-musica-antica

Among the Early music plucked instruments built by Master luthier Simone Assunto there are Renaissance and Baroque lutes, classic and modern mandolins, Vihuelas, Battente guitar and other medieval plucked instruments like Gironda, often used in popular music and for historical re-enactments.

Each early music plucked instrument is created with philological rigor, using materials and construction procedures relating to the era to which it belongs, very often following an iconographic study.

The processing and assembly of the woods is handmade and through the use of animal glue, where necessary gut strings made by Aquila according to rigid traditional criteria are used.

The rosettes of lutes, guitars and vihueles are hand-carved directly from the instrument’s soundboard, with the sole aid of a sharp knife.

The painting of early music plucked instruments is done strictly by hand and with the use of oils, natural resins, shellac and waxes.
